SPAWN SCAVENGER HUNT

Image

Hello everyone! In order to provide another event/competition on the server, I have decided to make a Scavenger Hunt that anyone can participate in!

How do I participate?
Participating is easy! Just look for the ? in normal /spawn as you see above. Beneath it you will find a brief explanation of the game, as well as potential clues to begin your search!

When can I participate?
This is the fun part! I won't necessarily announce when I've set up a new scavenger hunt to complete, so it is in your best interests to check back often and see if a new clue has been posted!

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES???
Prizes can be found inside a chest that will be hidden somewhere in spawn. It will be marked private with my name as well as [Everyone]. If you are the first to arrive, you will find a book inside, signed by me, with the date on it. Inside will hold what the "voucher" can be redeemed for! The prizes are going to vary, from big, valuable prizes to small mediocre ones (we don't have creative mode you know). You never know what you're going to get! There might even be a Major Prize on occasion. :o

General Q&A

-Where can I find the chests?

The chests will always be within a region designated as "spawn". No use looking elsewhere.

-How will I know if there is a hunt going on, or if someone's already found it?

Once the chest has been located, I will replace the sign that gives the clue with one that says something to the extent of: "There are no new clues right now, check back later!"

-What will I need to get to the chests?

Most of the time the chests will be obtainable without any items, and it will never be necessary to break blocks. There is a possibility that ender pearls will come in handy, or might rarely be necessary.

-Why use vouchers?

There's not a great answer for this, I just personally think its more fun to get the book and see what's inside, and be able to redeem it anytime you want to. Why would you not redeem it right away? Idunno, you just have that privilege if you so choose to save it and redeem it later. Could possibly trade vouchers? Who knows. (Also it prevents someone from only getting half the prize if two people get to the chest at very similar times. Just one thing to grab!)

-WHAT IS THIS MAJOR PRIZE OF WHICH YOU SPEAK????

But now and then there are Saturdays. Big temporal tipping points when anything’s possible.

Every once in a while, more than likely on a weekend, I will have a Major Prize Scavenger Hunt. In this case, a main clue will be given which tells the location of the prize chest, and contains a generally better prize than usual. However, since the clue will be vague and the chest will be hidden well, there will also be "Side Clues" which tell locations of other chests that contain hints to the main chest. Since there is only one side hint per chest, and only one major prize, it is up to you which path you want to take. It might benefit you to go straight for the major chest and spend all of your time looking for it, or it might be better to gain more information from gathering side clues first.

For example, there may be one main chest hidden underwater somewhere. The main clue just hints that its near water. The side clues, however, will direct you to other chests, which each contain 1 book that will help you pinpoint the main chest's location. If you reach one of the side chests first, you alone will know the extra hint the book contains.

Just because someone has already won once on a particular day does not necessarily mean there won't be another on that day!

Great idea! My question is, however, will you need Ender Pearls to reach certain chests? Some players may not have yet acquired Ender Pearls, so just wondering. Otherwise time to get hunting e.e

yes

Nezzie's Edit on Max's Post: Yeah, some chests will require Ender Pearls, but not all. The majority will be reachable from the ground, they just might require parkour! Balance between tricky hiding places that require more mobility, and others where it can be reached with no extra items. I think overall it will be more than fair and not crippling to new players.
