Expanding on what Zuko said (Which I believe to be a great idea, by the way) - after such and such amount of time, what is called the "new continent" would become the "old continent" and vice versa. After sufficient cluttering, the new-old continent would be rolled back, and the process begun anew.. Just a thought.

well ive got a few horses in nc
people are selling horses as more horses are being sold and more people breed the price of horses goes down and more people can afford a horse
so afther a time horses wont be a big problem + on a difrent server ive never used horses its a pain to get em back to ur home if u wanne go far horses are meant for vanilla minecraft server with no /home commands to get back so i'd say leave the server how it is

No new map. A new expansion sure, but people who have invested a ton of time (me for instance) would hate to start from scratch.

Besides, horses have been found and are able to be dragged across nc to oc (galleno did it).

I agree, in that I do not want to lose the old continent content. I've built a city (although, I haven't finished it yet) on old continent and I've been through 2 map purges already. The first time from the old temp map to the "new temp map", where I lost everything. The second time from the last beta map to the first official release map, or the "old continent", I was able to keep everything I had in locked chests and in my inventory.

If we purge old continent now, a lot would be lost. We already have the New Continent, so we don't really need another new continent again.

This is ultimately, however, up to Zerg. There may be system performance and/or storage considerations that prohibit us from having 3 "continents" and we might have to get rid of old continent at that point. If he DOES decide to purge or get rid of old continent, I hope he's at least nice enough to let us take the stuff in our locked chests again. I'd have to spend about 2 weeks dismantling all my structures with materials worth keeping.

I'm pretty sure 1.7 has new biome changes. There have been talks about actual fish in the water, which requires new ocean code. (I think)

fish i don't think so, they'd probably end up like any other mob. if they add any ocean specific blocks, then it'd need t use the new generation code. I'd be surprised if we needed a code to spawn a mob.

Zerg said he would do an expansion in 1.7 Which basically ends this thread I believe.

I just think Map expansion OR a spate world like the regen is the way to go.

I think a new continent in 1.7 would be ideal. The current continent is getting clogged up and it's about time we get a new one.

horses are not a valid point here lol, my friend and i together have 30 on a shared ranch
