The effectiveness of archiving

Should we use an archiving system for old, inactive threads.

Archive old threads!

So it seems we have a fourth option.. Archive old groups and towns only, so people don't get confused about what is active. :)

I set a temporary archive up before seeing this Oo sorry. I won't move more till this is decided but overall I think keeping an archive for a set time like 60/90 days and then letting that get pruned off sounds like a better idea to me.
For me though archiving stuff is fast and simple.

No no no.. No pruning for general topics. This will just annoy people when they are looking for their post, and it's been deleted.

Oh, and let me just add.. If you want to look for an old post, which you know used to be in general.. With no archiving, you just go look through the bottom of general. With archiving, you have to search through the equivalent of 5+ subforums of old topics... And the search tool is pretty rubbish. Lol.

I prefer locking inactive threads and letting them sink to the bottom... for the reasons hovr stated above :3
